Entry requirements | No specific requirements, but learners need to show proficiency – even through an interview – in the language/s of instruction (at least, at level A2 of the CEFR for languages). |
Target audience | Individuals aged 16 and over |
Target group | The programme targets students, young people and home learners who wish to develop their creative talents but have not had the opportunity to achieve their potential due to a number of reasons. These may include learning difficulties, special needs that have not been addressed in the learner’s mainstream education, or the desire to face challenges on a personal development level. |

Teaching

Assessment Students may be assessed on the following work: 1. Portfolio – a demonstrable body of evidence to record their work, created in their choice of style (diary, video, blog, artwork, etc.). 2. Logbook – a student journal containing entries on a weekly basis tracking all work done, and including personal reflection and factual recording of activities. 3. Report – presentations of the findings on an arts issue investigated from different perspectives, and of the feedback gathered. 4. Arts review – written reviews of professional arts activities (concert, theatre, dance, exhibition) attended by the learner. 5. Research – presentations on research conducted on European contemporary arts organisations which are producing work of interest. 6. Project – a collaborative work where the student assumes leadership on one task or activity, as part of a project to be shared with the public. | |
Grading system Apart from the work placements (pass/fail), the units will have a pass mark of 45% and will be graded as follows: Distinction Outstanding performance, well above the average (over 80%); Merit Solid performance, but with some errors or omissions (60-79%); Pass Fair performance, meeting the minimum criteria (45-59%); Fail Performance does not meet the required criteria (below 45%).
Students need to pass all units. The overall grade is calculated on the results of the two main units (that is, excluding the work placement). | |

Competences
- Take responsibility for own learning within the art form
- Seek and actively use feedback and support in one’s own arts practice
- Gather information on one’s performance from different sources and discuss with reviewers on ways of improving

The learner will have been exposed to:
- The skills, knowledge and working practices relevant to one’s art form
- Different approaches to a particular issue of one’s own art form and specialist vocabulary to discuss it
- The work of innovative art companies and practitioners
Skills
- Demonstrate originality, imagination, and appropriate creative responses to challenges faced in one’s work
- Form and communicate a view backed by persuasive arguments on an arts issue
- Review arts works/events, source relevant information, and synthesize one’s findings

Knowledge
The learner will have been exposed to:
- Information gathering on a subject to draw up plans for a public arts project
- Identification of factors that influence the outcome of a devised project plan
- Analysis of project results as a way of improving future activities
Skills
- Plan one’s role in a project, and deliver the tasks that need to be carried out for its successful implementation
- Reflect on the level of success of the devised project plan, drawing appropriate conclusions from the results
- Practise teamworking and basic communication skills
